2020 was an eventful year for me in a year when all my events were cancelled.
In October of 2020 I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. Which some of you might find surprising (those who know me well, will not). This was a validating diagnosis after years of feeling drained and not good enough.
My relationship to sleep, rest and dreams has always been a huge creative source for me. One of the symptoms of narcolepsy is hypnogogic hallucinations, something that had terrified me as a teen and in my twenties. As I grew older I came up with ways to cope and encourage myself out of them.
Losing my livelihood and connection to community has been an exhausting and overwhelming experience so I decided to talk myself out it like I would a sleep terror. Thusly, Pasithea Productions was created.
In Greek mythology, Pasithea was one of the Charites, and the Goddess of relaxation, meditation, hallucinations and all other altered states of consciousness. She is the wife of Hypnos, the god of sleep and the mother of Morpheus, the god of dreams...basically the perfect personification for my new adventure.
My intention is to produce creative events under this name as well as offer consulting, booking and marketing services.
Let the adventure begin!
